Free Money Alert: Illinois Sending Stimulus Checks This Summer

If you live in Illinois, you could be getting free money this summer without lifting a finger.
The Enhanced Money Match program from the Illinois Treasurer’s Office is actively mailing out checks to residents with unclaimed funds.
This initiative uses secure technology to match people with unclaimed property in the state’s system, automatically sending a check directly to their mailbox, no paperwork or application required.
How Much Could You Receive?
This summer, nearly 600,000 Illinois residents will receive a share of $45 million under the Enhanced Money Match program.
While most checks will be $50 or less, some residents with multiple unclaimed accounts could receive larger amounts.
Why Is Illinois Sending Out Checks?
The goal is to get unclaimed money back into the hands of residents quickly, supporting everyday expenses, groceries, or extra savings.
Since launching in 2018, the Enhanced Money Match program has returned over $130 million to 870,000 residents.
How Does the Enhanced Money Match Program Work?
1. Automatic Matching:
The state cross-checks unclaimed property databases with names and addresses on file.
2. Notification:
A letter is sent explaining how much money you are owed and where it came from.
3. Direct Payment:
A check is mailed directly to your home, ready to cash.
How to Check if You Have Unclaimed Money in Illinois
While you might receive a check automatically, you don’t have to wait.
You can check your status anytime using the official I-CASH database, Illinois’ unclaimed property program, to see if you have money waiting.
